NEWS

August 27, 2006:

The most pressing thing I need to let you know about is the horrendous, senseless murder of dogs in China. They did it once, the world revolted against them, and now they are planning a second massacre.  You can help stop this.  Read more in the animals section.

In happier news, I just talked to Spread Eagle's Rob DeLuca and Ray West yesterday on the Wild Side.  The band has reformed with Savatage/TSO axeman Chris Caffery to play some shows and perhaps pave the way for a new record. We'll keep you posted on that...Also, the latest band you should be checking out is Pittsburgh native sons Icarus Witch.  If you're into the classic metal of Dio and Iron Maiden, you will dig these guys.  And mark your calendars for Saturday, September 9 at 4pm, when Jeff Duncan drops into the Wild Side to chat about Odin's upcoming performance at Paladino's on the 16th, his band DC4 and the addition of new guitarist Rowan Robertson (ex-Dio), and of course the latest on Armored Saint!

July 17, 2006:

Thanks for all the great birthday wishes!  This year's birthday weekend was a grand blowout, with a Friday night performance by the mighty Armored Saint at the House of Blues Hollywood.  Everyone in the local radius who is anyone was THERE!  Then, Saturday was Kick/Candy O performing live at the Pitcherhouse in Hermosa Beach.  That was an incredible show made even better by the appearance of Eveready Ed, who proceeded to blow out the sound system by approaching the bar to buy me a drink...go figure!  TsTM (who was celebrating his birthday the next day) and his lovely lady Kat showed up as well, and we dragged the Oompa onstage to sing "Birthday" for all the celebrating individuals.

The next big event (besides the awesome Slayer show on the 22nd!) is Warrant, Firehouse and Skid Row live at the Grove of Anaheim Friday, July 28.  In honor of this, Warrant's Jerry Dixon drops in on the Wild Side this Saturday, the 22nd at 4:00 PM Pacific Time (and we'll get to play some of the fantastic new Warrant record Born Again, instores NOW).  Then, Firehouse's Bill Leverty phones in Wednesday, July 26th at 8:30am Pacific Time.  It'll be great to catch up and see what's going on with these guys, so make your plans to join us!

The reconstruction of New Orleans continues after the terrible aftermath of Katrina.  One way you can help is by helping the volunteers rescue the many animals stranded. Read more on the Animals section.

In musical picks, recent cools shows include performances by Alice Cooper & Cheap Trick, as well as a tribute show by Candy-O and Kick (The Cars & INXS respectively). I also caught a secret surprise show by Buckcherry at the Viper Room recently -- awesome, and the band that opened for them, the Chelsea Smiles, caught my attention as well.

September 1, 2005:

My heart goes out to the many desperate people stranded in New Orleans in the wake of the terrible hurricane.  Being a native Louisiana/Texas girl myself, I know all too well how much damage these storms can inflict.  They are going to need so much support in the upcoming months  from you and me, and I've found a link to ways you can help out the hurricane victims.

August 30, 2005:

I just got word of a planned cougar hunt up in the backwoods of Oregon.  If you're interested in putting a stop to this cruel behavior, please go to the Animals page and get more information.

February 1, 2004:

Fresh off the Los Angeles Iron Maiden shows, I'm still buzzing! Bruce and company were sounding as great as ever with ornate stage shows, intricate songs and the kickass attitude you expect from Maiden.  Bruce proved to be "The Trooper" as he took an unexpected flight off the landing of the stage, bruising his ribs but carrying on til the end.  The band will be taking a well-needed rest before starting to work on their next release.
